The chooks on this page will make wonderfully sweet and quirky additions to your pet flock. They have minor faults that makes them less suitable for breeding. Please reach out if you’re looking for breeding stock. We hand-raise our chickens on quality, non-GMO feed from Farmer Eddie.
Reserving your birds: we operate on a strict first-come, first-serve basis. Once we send you an invoice, we will happily hold your birds in a “pending” status for 24 hours. If the invoice remains unpaid after 24 hours, we will need to make the birds available to others who are waiting.
Pullets & hens
Our pullets and hens have sold out. We’re now raising chicks. Please contact us if you’d like to be put on our waitlist for your favourite breed.

Frequently asked questions
We are based outside of Barrydale, on the R62, in the Western Cape.
We breed Silkies (splash, blue, buff, blue paint), Polish bantams (frizzle and smooth chamois), Barbu d’Uccles (millefleur, porcelain, silver millefleur), Barnevelders (double-laced black), Marans (black copper), Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers. And we have a few projects going, too.
We will be offering hatching eggs of our coloured egg layers again in spring. These include Easter Eggers, Olive Eggers, and Black Copper Marans. We may consider selling small quantities of Silkie hatching eggs. Barnevelders, Polish bantams and Barbu d’Uccles are only sold as pullets and cockerels.
Chicks are available most of the year, though we do not sell chicks of every breed we keep. Please understand that all chicks are sold unsexed, and that 50% (or more, or less) of them will end up being roosters.
Yes! We do our own delivery runs from Barrydale to Brackenfell. We also have partnered with a pet courier who services most of the Western Cape, as well as Port Elizabeth. Please note the courier service comes at an extra charge.
We can arrange transport to other provinces, though this does become costly. This is because the nearest courier pickup point is a 2 hr round trip for us. We tend to advise buyers to look closer to home, however, we are happy to make arrangements on a case-by-case basis.
We have not shown our birds, though we are registered with the South African Show Poultry Organisation, and ring our most promising birds.
One of our frizzle chamois Polish bantams was shown by a customer at the 2026 Bathurst Agricultural Show, and she was awarded Best in Breed as well as Best in Variety.
